About Depiro Sports Club
What is Depiro Sports Club?
Depiro Sports Club is a voluntary, non-profit organisation registered with the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (VO 1825) and recognised as a Sports Entity by SportMalta (SM 009 C),
For generations, Depiro has been bringing people together through sport. We offer a wide range of sporting programmes for all ages, organise community events, and create opportunities for children, young people, and adults to stay active, make friends, and develop both on and off the field of play.
Who runs Depiro Sports Club?
Depiro Sports Club isn’t privately owned. It’s run by a Board of Directors elected by the Club’s members every three years. As a members’ club, decisions are made with the best interests of the Club and its community at heart.
Is Depiro involved in the community?
Absolutely! Community is at the heart of everything we do. Throughout the year, we organise outreach initiatives, free sports activities, fundraising events, and projects that encourage inclusion, participation, and healthy living. We’re proud to be more than just a sports club—we’re part of the local community.
Membership and Volunteering
Who can become a member?
Everyone is welcome at Depiro, regardless of age, background, or sporting ability.
As a member, you’ll become part of the Depiro family and have the opportunity to take an active role in the Club. Every member has equal voting rights and can nominate themselves or another member for election to the Club Committee. Committee members serve on a voluntary basis, giving their time and expertise to help the Club continue to grow.
How do I become a member?
Joining Depiro is easy. Membership runs for 12 months, from October to September, and you can sign up online at depiro.mt or by visiting the Club office.
Can my family join too?
Of course! We offer Individual, Couple, and Family membership packages, making it easy for the whole family to get involved. Please note that only members aged 18 and over are eligible to vote or stand for election to the Club Committee.
How can I volunteer?
Depiro simply wouldn’t be the Club it is today without the support of its volunteers.
Whether you have a few hours to spare or professional skills to share, there are many ways you can help, including:
- Helping organise events and fundraising activities.
- Assisting with children’s and youth programmes.
- Sharing your expertise in areas such as finance, legal services, marketing, communications, administration, or project management.
Volunteering is a rewarding way to give back to the Club, meet new people, and make a real difference to our community.
Are there any member benefits?
Yes! Becoming a member comes with a number of exclusive benefits. Thanks to the support of our sponsors and partners, members can enjoy discounts on gym memberships, sports equipment and apparel, as well as special offers from a variety of local retailers and businesses.
Governance and Finances
How are the Club’s finances managed?
As a voluntary organisation, we take transparency and accountability seriously.
Our financial accounts are independently audited every year, while the Club Committee carefully manages the Club’s finances, ensuring funds are invested responsibly in programmes, equipment, facilities, and future development. Members also receive financial updates during the Annual General Meeting.
What happens to any surplus funds?
Because Depiro is a non-profit organisation, every euro generated is reinvested back into the Club.
This means improving our facilities, investing in new equipment, expanding our sporting programmes, supporting community initiatives, and creating even better opportunities for our members. Our goal is simple: to keep building a stronger Club that benefits everyone who is part of the Depiro community.
